Dr. Cavanaugh

Dr. Cavanaugh

Serving Missouri

Dr. Cavanaugh, a life-long St. Louisan, had his first orthodontic experience as a patient at Century Orthodontics, the practice he now owns. Interestingly enough, his orthodontic practice can be traced back to the dentist who is considered the founder of orthodontics, Dr. Edward Angle.  He is proud to continue the storied history of his practice helping patients achieve the beautiful smiles they desire, while simultaneously developing positive relationships with each patient and family.

Dr. Cavanaugh attended the Six-Year B.A./D.D.S. program at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) earning his undergraduate degree and dental degree at the same time. He continued his training at UMKC earning a certificate in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. Dr. Cavanaugh’s practice was the first in the Midwest to begin using clear aligners when they were introduced in the summer of 1999. As an early adopter of this groundbreaking innovation, he has seen the technology grow from a tool that could only be used in limited cases to one that can be used to treat most types of orthodontic issues. He is excited for the continued advancements of clear aligners and for the new technologies that will aid in their use. Dr. Cavanaugh and his wife Linzi met in dental school. Linzi practices general dentistry in the St. Louis area. Together they have four children. In his free time, Dr. Cavanaugh enjoys working in his yard and watching the Cardinals and the Blues and looks for to cheering on the new St. Louis City SC team when they begin play.
